During your stay at Domaine de Bagatelle you will have free run of the gardens and 165 acres of private estate so you can feel truly immersed in the beauty and tranquillity of the area.
The tree lined avenue leading to the house is surrounded by a beautiful wild flower meadow where many species of butterfly can be found. At the end of this you reach the peaceful gravelled courtyard with boxwood parterre, a central fountain and undercover parking for four cars.
In the Summer months you find you gravitate towards the pool terrace for its sensational views and large heated swimming pool. Set out over two levels this area has a terrace that flanks the Pavillion with comfortable outdoor seating, perfect for evening drinks, and a table and chairs for 8 adults, both complete with sun shades. Next to this is an ‘outdoor room’ which houses the gas fired BBQ, table tennis table and shower room. The pool is down a small flight of steps flanked by aromatic lavender and has a hedge around it for safety. You will find sun loungers, some shade given by large parasols and an electric hard cover to keep the heat in overnight. To the left of the terrace is the herb garden which guests are welcome to use during their stay. This area is gravelled so is also perfect for a game of boules. This whole area benefits from the outdoor speakers so you can chose your own soundtrack to relax to.
At the back of the Main House you will find a peaceful gravelled terrace overlooking the walled garden and formal lawns. There is a table and chairs for 8 adults and badminton set if you’re feeling more active. This is a lovely shady spot to escape to during the heat of the day or to watch the sun set between the ancient gateposts that lead to the Arboretum.
Beyond the walled garden is the Arboretum which was laid out by one of the architects of Kew Gardens. It is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll among some beautiful specimen trees.
Or if you want to up the tempo then take a ramble along one of the cut paths through the private woodland where you will find two small lakes and an abundance of rare flora and fauna.
